Campus Locations

MTU operates across three main campuses:

  • Bishopstown Campus (Cork): Located in the western suburbs of Cork City, this campus is home to student services, research centres, and industry support centres.

  • Kerry North Campus (Tralee): Situated in Dromtacker, Tralee, this campus offers a range of programmes and is in proximity to Kerry Technology Park, fostering links with start-ups and global companies.

  • Kerry South Campus (Clash, Tralee): This campus houses the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, featuring state-of-the-art facilities for various disciplines.

 

Types of Courses & Study Levels

MTU offers a comprehensive range of programmes:

  • Undergraduate: Bachelor and Honours Bachelor degrees.

Mode of Learning

Scholarship

Scholarships for International Students at MTU

1. MTU Non-EU International Scholarships

  • Eligibility: Open to non-EU international students accepted into full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at MTU.

  • Scholarship Details:

    • Undergraduate Programmes: €2,500 reduction in tuition fees, bringing the annual fee to €11,000.

    • Postgraduate Programmes:

      • MSc Data Science and Analytics, MSc Cybersecurity, MSc Artificial Intelligence: €3,000 reduction, making the annual fee €12,000.

      • All Other Postgraduate Programmes: €2,500 reduction, reducing the annual fee to €11,000.

  • Application Process: Candidates are automatically considered for this scholarship upon acceptance into an eligible programme. No separate application is required.

  • Important Note: MTU does not offer full scholarships; the awards are partial fee reductions.

 

2. Sanctuary Scholarships

  • Eligibility: Available to individuals from asylum-seeking or refugee backgrounds who do not qualify for financial support under Ireland's Free Fees Initiative, the SUSI grant scheme, or the International Protection Student Scheme. Applications are also accepted from migrants with exceptional Stamp 4 or Stamp 3 status who do not qualify for financial support under these schemes.

  • Benefits: Successful applicants receive a waiver for tuition fees, Student Contribution Charge, USI fee, and Student Capitation Charge for the duration of their course or until they become eligible for the aforementioned schemes.

 

3. Global Citizenship Scholarship Programme

  • Eligibility: Open to international students enrolled in various programmes at MTU.

  • Programme Details:

    • Level 01 Scholarship:

      • Applicable Programmes: Wildlife Biology, Veterinary Biosciences, Animal Biosciences, MSc Nursing, and advanced entry students studying at MTU for one academic year.

      • Scholarship Amount: €3,050 reduction in tuition fees, bringing the annual fee to €10,450.

    • Level 02 Scholarship:

      • Applicable Programmes: Specific details on applicable programmes are provided on the MTU Kerry Campus website. 

  • Application Process: Candidates are considered for this scholarship upon acceptance into an eligible programme. No separate application is required

 

General Application Guidelines for Scholarships

  • Automatic Consideration: For most scholarships, candidates are automatically considered upon acceptance into an eligible programme.

  • Deposit Requirement: To secure the scholarship, successful candidates must accept their offer and pay the required deposit of €1,000 within four weeks of receiving the offer.

  • Self-Funding Status: Applicants must be self-funded and classified as non-EU for tuition fee purposes.

  • Scholarship Application Deadlines: Deadlines for scholarship applications vary. For instance, the deadline for the Sanctuary Scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year was June 23, 2023. Prospective applicants should check the MTU Access Office website for updated application timelines.

 

Additional Information

  • Full-Time Undergraduate Fees: Non-EU students are initially assessed for the non-EU fee rate of €13,500 per annum. However, in many cases, students may be eligible for a scholarship that reduces this amount.

  • Postgraduate Fees:

    • Research Masters and PhD (Non-EU): €12,000 per year.
