The SPA is designed to provide the skills required by a learner and thus provides an opportunity for companies to sponsor their employees whilst they upskill. The course is industry focussed to address scientific skills gaps within many regulated manufacturing sectors such as Biopharmachem, Food and Beverage, Energy, Water, MedTech, etc.

 

The Certificate is designed in collaboration with Industry to upskill graduates to become familiar with fundamental concepts around process and analytical instrumentation (nb liquid and gas analysis), calibration & asset management (ISO17025 calibration), Instrument design and Industrial Quality systems.

 

Upon successful completion of the Certificate, graduates will have a fundamental knowledge and qualifications at level 7 (QQI) in the area of Process Analytical Instrumentation. Graduates will be eligible to progress to complete a level 7 major award such as the BSc Instrumentation & PLC Systems.

 

Note that the modules taken on the Certificate in Process Analytical Instrumentation are embedded within the BSc Instrumentation & PLC Systems programme and will be recognised so that students only need to complete the remaining modules on that programme should they wish to achieve the major award.
