Scholarship

1. Vice-Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship

  • Value: Up to NZD $15,000

  • Eligibility:

    • New international students enrolling for the first time in undergraduate or postgraduate programmes at the University of Waikato.

    • Demonstrated excellent academic achievement.

  • Application Process:

    1. Read the scholarship guidelines.

    2. Complete an application to enrol at the University of Waikato.

    3. Log into the MyWaikato portal and apply for the scholarship.

  • Note: Scholarships are awarded to successful applicants who demonstrate excellent academic achievement.

2. International Entrance Scholarship for School Leavers

  • Value: Up to NZD $15,000

  • Eligibility:

    • International students completing Year 13 (or equivalent) at a New Zealand high school in 2025.

    • Intending to enrol full-time (120 points) in an undergraduate degree at the University of Waikato in A Trimester 2026.

    • Completed study at NCEA Level 2 and/or 3, or equivalent.

  • Application Process: No application required. Scholarship offers will be issued to eligible students within 14 days of their Offer of Place.

  • Note: Returning students to the University of Waikato are ineligible for this scholarship.

3. University of Waikato College International Pathway Scholarship

  • Value: Up to NZD $2,500

  • Eligibility:

    • International fee-paying students with an Offer of Place within eligible programmes of study offered by the University of Waikato College.

  • Application Process: No application required. Scholarship offers will be issued to eligible students within 8 weeks of the start of their College papers.

  • Note: The award is applied in New Zealand dollars to tuition fees only and is not transferrable.

4. Academic English Bursary

  • Value: 10% tuition fee bursary for up to 2 levels of the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English (CAAE), equivalent to a maximum of 20 weeks of study.

  • Eligibility:

    • Students progressing to a pre-degree programme provided by the University of Waikato College.

  • Application Process: Contact an admissions specialist or speak to your agent for more information.

  • Note: The bursary is applied to tuition fees only and is not transferrable.
