Latest Updates / Special Requirements

The most significant current update is the proposed Finance and Technology (FinTech) specialisation. The University states that it is planned exclusively for the Tauranga campus from July 2027, subject to final approval.

The 2027 Management subject regulations currently include:

  • MNGMT562 – Contemporary and Future Issues, in Context, 15 points, C Trimester, Hamilton and Tauranga.

International Student Visa Requirements

Most international students undertaking the Master of Management in New Zealand will need a Fee Paying Student Visa. The University states that the student visa must name the University of Waikato as the place of study.

Immigration New Zealand currently states that the Fee Paying Student Visa:

  • Allows study in New Zealand for up to 4 years.
  • Costs from NZD 850.
  • Requires an offer of place from an approved education provider.
  • Requires sufficient funds to pay tuition fees or evidence of a scholarship.
  • Requires sufficient funds for living expenses or an acceptable sponsor.
  • Requires acceptable medical and travel insurance.
  • Requires applicants to meet health and character requirements.
  • Requires a genuine reason for studying in New Zealand.
  • Requires evidence that the student can leave New Zealand at the end of their stay.
