Program Structure

The Bachelor of Science is a Level 7 undergraduate qualification that normally takes three years of full-time study to complete.

  • Level of study: Undergraduate (Bachelor's Degree, NZQF Level 7).

Visa Requirements (International Students)

International students intending to study the Bachelor of Science in New Zealand must meet the applicable immigration requirements set by Immigration New Zealand.

  • The programme is available at Hamilton and Tauranga campuses, but not every major or paper is offered at both locations.

  • The university's current published 2026 information lists the indicative international tuition fee at approximately NZD 42,641–44,342 per year on the qualification page. The separate international tuition fee schedule lists NZD 42,235 for the BSc, so students should confirm the applicable amount in their individual offer of place.

  • The 2027 indicative tuition fee listed in the international fee schedule is NZD 44,347 per year, subject to the papers selected and any changes in university fees.

  • International students from India generally need an average of at least 75% across their best four academic subjects, with at least 60% in English, in Class XII from CBSE, CISCE or specified state boards. For other recognised Indian state boards, an average of 80% and at least 65% in English is generally required.

  • The general English language requirement for undergraduate admission is IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, with no band below 5.5, or an accepted equivalent such as TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic or Duolingo English Test.

  • Students who do not meet the direct academic entry requirements may be considered for an alternative pathway, such as a foundation programme or an international diploma, depending on eligibility.

  • Certain science majors may require specific prior knowledge in mathematics, chemistry, biology or physics. Students should check the prerequisites for their intended papers.

  • Students interested in Crime Science should note that the university's current degree regulations state that there will be no new intake into this major in 2026.
