University of Winchester, UK

The Institution of Winchester is an English public research university located in Winchester, Hampshire. It was founded in the year 1840. Inr 2005, though, it was granted university status. The University's Chancellor and Vice Chancellor are Alan Titchmarsh and Joy Carter, respectively. The university's motto is "Wisdom and lar," which translates to "Wisdom and Knowledge." The Cathedrals Group (formally the Council of Church Universities and Colleges or CCUC), an organisation of universities and university colleges in the United Kingdom, includes Winchester University.

 

The University of Winchester is situated in the picturesque South Downs, near the UK's south coast. Winchester, a cathedral city, was granted university status in 2008 and now has approximately 7,500 students enrolled.

 

Winchester was ranked fourth in England for overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey. American Studies, Archaeology, Business Management, Choreography and Dance, Digital Media Design, Digital Media Development, Education Studies (Early Childhood), Event Management, Health Community and Social Care Studies, History and the Medieval World, History and the Modern World, Media Production, Media Studies, and Politics and Global Studies all receive 100% overall satisfaction from final year undergraduate students.

 

The University's atmosphere is informal, with a focus on creating a supportive community for students by promoting start-up enterprises and social entrepreneurship, as well as offering personal support in student education and life. In recent years, Winchester has witnessed a lot of growth, with the completion of brand-new housing and an award-winning student union that received one of the highest rankings in the National Student Survey.

  • According to the Complete Institution Guide Rankings, Winchester is the 106th best university in the UK, 107th in the Guardian Rankings, and 106th in the Times / Sunday Times Rankings. The Teaching Excellence Framework gave Winchester a silver award, indicating that "the university is of excellent quality and consistently exceeds the baseline level anticipated of higher education institutions. Winchester does not appear in any of the major worldwide university rankings (QS, THE, ARWU and CWTS Leiden).

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP - POSTGRADUATE

The International Student Scholarship is available to International students joining for a taught programme at the University*.

Open to: International Students applying for a full-time taught programme.

Criteria: Must have accepted an offer from the University of Winchester. Students must have a first or second (higher) class equivalent degree and an IELTS of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in all categories. Recipients must also meet additional merit-based criteria.
