BA (Hons) FILM AND MEDIA STUDIES
Throughout the programme you will learn transferable skills, creative thinking, and have opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to practical projects. You will explore the development of film as a medium, techniques of narrative and storytelling, genre and questions of taste, representation and identities, fans and audiences, and how film has shaped, and is shaped by, the larger world of media.
Our fully-equipped multimedia facilities and strong links with the professional world, including creative agencies, content creators, independent film producers, radio stations, newspapers and festivals, will help you build a combination of practical and transferable skills, creative thinking and applied academic knowledge so that you stand out in a competitive job market.
The programme starts out by grounding you in the worlds and the practices of film and media, introducing both the academic study of these subjects and supplying you with core creative skills. You will develop an understanding of the use of media across a variety of contexts, with a particular focus on the impact of digital technologies in the context of film and the convergence of old and new media.
