Applied against tuition fees for the first year of eligible study

Unitec offers this grant to qualifying international students who are new to an eligible programme or progressing to a higher-level eligible qualification at Unitec. There is no separate grant application: eligible students are assessed through the programme application and enrolment process.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must meet the following key conditions:

• Be an international student under the applicable New Zealand definition.

• Be new to the eligible Unitec programme and applying for full-time study in the specified 2027 intake.

• Meet the academic, English-language and other admission requirements for the chosen qualification.

• Be accepted and remain enrolled full-time throughout the relevant academic year.

• Apply to an eligible programme by the applicable deadline and commence study in Semester 1 or Semester 2 of 2027, as specified by the grant rules. Deferring beyond Semester 2, 2027 makes the student ineligible for this grant.

Unitec International Pathways Award

This scholarship supports first-time international students and includes financial assistance and mentoring during their first year.

Eligibility requirements:

• Must be an international student holding a valid New Zealand student visa.

• Must be enrolling at Unitec for the first time.

• Must be starting full-time study, defined as at least 45 credits per semester.

• Must be entering an eligible undergraduate certificate or diploma programme at Levels 3–7 that takes at least one semester of full-time study to complete.

• Must submit the online application and meet the selection committee's requirements.

For: Talented students enrolled in the Doctor of Computing or Master of Applied Technology (Computing).
