Environmental Health and Safety

This MSc programme is delivered in three streams; the original Environmental Health & Safety stream, established in 1999; the Health Safety and Human Factors stream introduced in 2019 and the Construction Safety Stream which  was validated in 2024. The programme enjoys a widespread academic and professional reputation and is accredited by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The Human Factors stream also gives access to full membership for the Irish Human Factors Ergonomics Society.

 

There is growing demand in Ireland for Environmental Health and Safety professionals (EHS) and in particular in the disciplines of Ergonomics, Human Factors  and Construction Safety.



The objectives of the MSc. programme are to provide students with:

  • A framework for lifelong learning
  • The skills necessary to critically evaluate cutting-edge scientific and technical developments related to EHS, Ergonomics, Human Factors  and Construction Safety
  • An in-depth understanding and knowledge in their chosen discipline area
  • Competency in EHS, Ergonomics, Human Factors  and Construction Safety
  • Core risk management skills with and the ability to further develop these skills
  • The ability to plan, perform, analyse and report hypothesis-driven research

 

All modules on the MSc EHS programme can be taken as CPD award by those not enrolled on the Masters programme, and by past graduates.
