Engineering (General Entry)

Are you unsure which engineering niche is right for you? You may need time to figure this out. This Common Entry course offers a mix of electronic, electrical, computer, robotics and mechanical. You can sample core engineering modules in first year so that you can decide which area of engineering you enjoy most before choosing the area you want to pursue in subsequent years. On successful completion of the course, students will have the mathematical and scientific basis to successfully enter the second year of seven different Level 7 discipline-specific courses.

Students apply for TU708 Bachelor of Engineering on your CAO application. In first year, you’ll complete core modules in engineering, so you can find out which area of the subject interests you most. Modules include Digital Electronics, Engineering Science, Fundamentals of Calculus, Electrical Science, Electronic Communications and Professional Development for Engineers.

At the end of Year 1, you can choose to enter into Year 2 of either Computer Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering (both Level 7 courses).
