Arabic

There are more than 300 million Arabic speakers across the world, predominantly living in the Middle East and North Africa. The language has been used to produce literature, music, and art of immense beauty, but it also has deep significance in our world today in both current events and as one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

The Department of Near and Middle Eastern Studies in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies offers a beginners' Arabic language and culture course. This course is developed in accordance with the provisions of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
