Visa Requirements & Work Rights (for International Students)

Student Visa Basics

  • You must have a valid New Zealand student visa to study full-time.

  • Apply ~2–3 months before travel to allow processing time.

  • Must be enrolled in at least 45 points (3 courses) per semester.

Working Rights

  • On a student visa, you can typically work up to 25 hours/week during semesters and full-time in breaks.

  • You need an IRD tax number to work.

Post-Study Opportunities
