Translational Research

This module will provide a range of activities and resources that will help participants to develop an understanding of translational research; the actions in translating research into practice; implementation and dissemination. 

 

The module is divided into sections:

  • Introduction to the concept of translational research;
  • Comparative effectiveness research;
  • Clinical Guideline development;
  • implementation Science;
  • Implementation Strategies Frameworks and Models;
  • Community and Public Patient 
  • Engagement in research and co-design;
  • Mixed methods research;
  • Participatory Action Research;
  • Project management;
  • Dissemination and Knowledge translation. 

 

Learning Outcomes: 

On completion of the programme the student will be able to: 

  • Critically reflect on an aspect of practice and formulate research questions or hypotheses from a defined healthcare problem related to translational research questions, types of translational research  

  • Evaluate and relate the techniques available to translate/implement research?based evidence into practice Guideline development and Implementation science).  

  • Select and employ in a research protocol the chosen technique to translate/implement research?based evidence into practice (Implementation strategies and action research methods  

  • Prepare for submission to a clinical research ethics related to Participatory Research, Community involvement PPI and project management  

  • Defend the chosen strategy to build knowledge translation into study design and conduct (Dissemination and Knowledge translation)
