Theoretical Underpinnings of Practice Based Inquiry

This module is designed to introduce you to Practice Based Inquiry, and how it can be used to identify questions in practice that can be developed into research questions and projects that seek solutions to challenges and issues within the care environment. Addressing a clinical problem through practice-based inquiry involves asking the right questions, in the right way, finding the best available evidence, and assessing what research evidence might be needed to guide future clinical care or service decisions

Through this module we help you to develop the skill of critical reflective practice, to identify research questions; to find appraise and synthesise evidence. We will introduce frameworks for use in Practice based inquiry; explore issues such as research ethics, governance and integrity and assist you in how to prepare a practice-based inquiry research proposal / protocol for ethical approval.
