Leading and Managing Infection Prevention and Control

The aim of this interprofessional module is to provide learners with an opportunity to critically appraise and evaluate current infection prevention and control evidenced-based practice approaches, preparing learners to champion and lead infection prevention and control best practice in the workplace. Working in accordance with national and international guidance the module will provide the learner with requisite knowledge to support the development and implementation of infection prevention and control strategies and programmes, across a range of dynamic and evolving healthcare services. An understanding of the fundamental principles of infection prevention and control is desirable, as learners of this module will consolidate existing knowledge and skills.

 

This module offers healthcare professionals from across healthcare settings, an opportunity to develop leadership and management capabilities in the field of infection prevention and control in the context of a multi-disciplinary approach to teaching and learning. The module is delivered in collaboration with health service partner organisations and by clinically based subject matter experts demonstrating an inclusive, multidisciplinary, and interprofessional approach.

 

*The module can be taken as a stand-alone/University Certificate of Study (UCOS) module or as part of the MSc in Infection Prevention and Control Leadership programme offered by the Department of Nursing and Midwifery. Students can take up to two modules without enrolling on a full programme of study and programme enrolment occurs each Aug/Sept*.
