Community Engagement - Professional Diploma
The professional Diploma in Community engagement offers previous and past Home School Liaison Coordinators within the Tusla Education Support Service (TESS) accredited learning at graduate level equivalent to 30 ECTS. This credit can be transferred and used as a recognized prior learning in any third level institution in Ireland and may be used as an entry route to the Masters in Community Research at UL.
The diploma provides previous and past Home School Liaison Co-ordinators within TESS a unique opportunity to work and learn with local communities in local communities. Over 11 months, you will be part of a diverse team charged with designing and delivering a project to address a local identified need.
The programme facilitates student involvement in community/university partnership projects, providing the necessary training and facilitation between students and community partners to enable them to effectively identify the tasks and work packages that students reasonably carry out in order to address identified community needs. In Limerick we work with local community consortia in Moyross, Southill, Our Lady of Lourdes, St Mary's and St Munchins as part of a wider UL ambition to support University-community collaboration that is reciprocal, beneficial and goal orientated.
