Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours)
This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attributes to apply the principles of exercise science and contemporary allied health practice to assist people in the prevention and management of ill health. The program aligns with the professional standards for accreditation as an Exercise Scientist and Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia.
This program is structured around a core of required courses (totaling 135 units) and elective courses (totaling 9 units). The degree requires completion of courses comprising 144 units.
The core courses provide for theory, practical and clinical based learning, foundational studies in exercise science including areas such as anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, motor learning and control, exercise and sport psychology, exercise programming and nutrition. Students then complete specialised clinical training in areas such as pathophysiology, clinical exercise assessment and prescription and occupational rehabilitation in order to be qualified to deliver exercise management for a range of cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, musculoskeletal, neurologic and cancer conditions. Across third and fourth year students will develop and undertake either a research or clinical/industry focussed honours project.
