Master of Physiotherapy (Graduate Entry)
The program provides a pathway for university graduates to develop advanced competencies, practical skills and professional knowledge essential to meet the registration requirements to practice as a Physiotherapist.
This program runs over 2 years and requires completion of 72 units of study. The courses offered within the first study period prepare the student for clinical practice. Content relates to the acquisition of key physiotherapy knowledge and skills as well as clinical reasoning in the different discipline areas of physiotherapy.
Clinical courses begin in the mid-year period of first year and continue for the next 18 months. These courses form a central component of the program enabling students to use their developing skills and knowledge within a practice environment.
Clinical courses cover areas of aged care, paediatrics, acute hospital care, rehabilitation, and primary and ambulatory care, advanced hospital care. In selected courses of the program students can elect to undertake placements in rural, interstate or overseas locations. To complement the clinical work, courses in ethics, communication, pain sciences and evidence-based practice provide key competencies for practice.
