Master of Engineering (Electrical Power)
This program provides graduates in Electrical and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) oriented engineering disciplines with an advanced understanding of the current practice and technology in Electrical Power Engineering.
To qualify for this award students are required to complete 72 units comprising of 63 units of courses and 9 units of electives. Work-integrated learning is facilitated through the UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program, requiring students to gain at least 450 hours (60 days FTE) of skills and competencies through a range of engagement activities such as placements, internships, guest lectures, industry panels, site visits, networking and events.
The program will involve study of advanced topics in the area of Electrical Power engineering.
The first year of the program is intended to bring the students' competencies to a level equivalent to a completed fourth year of the BEng Honours. The available specialist content in Electrical Power engineering will include among others operation and control of modern power systems and power generation from renewable energy sources. Students must complete 31.5 units of Core Courses and one electives.
The second year of the program will offer specialist Electrical Power engineering courses and a compulsory 13.5 unit research project. The topics in Electrical Power will include issues in renewable and distributed power generation, advanced modelling of electrical machines as well as modelling and analysis of power systems. Students will also complete two courses relating to engineering management.
