Doctor of Pharmacy
This program provides a direct pathway to a professional postgraduate qualification in Pharmacy for registration as a pharmacist in this country. The Australian government predicts strong employment growth for pharmacists over the coming years, partly due to the expanding role of pharmacists in healthcare delivery.
The Doctor of Pharmacy (51500) is accredited by the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) and is approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia as a qualification leading to registration as a pharmacist in Australia. This course is future-focused and designed to prepare graduates for dynamic roles in contemporary and emerging pharmacy practice. Delivered intensively over two years, the course integrates advanced pharmaceutical sciences with immersive clinical training across hospitals, community pharmacies, and primary care settings.
Our curriculum is structured around a body-system modular format, enabling deeper integration of pharmacology, therapeutics, and pharmacy practice. This approach ensures students develop a holistic understanding of patient care, medication management, and disease treatment pathways.
Students gain hands-on experience through work-integrated learning placements, supported by strong industry partnerships. The program incorporates training in contemporary areas of practice and develops the adaptability needed to respond to evolving scopes of practice.
Graduates will meet the Australian Pharmacy Council’s Performance Outcomes Framework and be ready to commence their internship to become a Generalist Pharmacist. They will be confident, adaptable, and capable of delivering high-quality care across diverse settings—from hospitals and aged care to rural clinics and community pharmacies.
Whether you’re looking to launch your pharmacy or expand your impact in healthcare, UWA’s Doctor of Pharmacy will empower you with the knowledge, skills, and professional networks to thrive.
