Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access

After completing this self-directed online course you will be able to perform ultrasound guided central venous and peripheral arterial catheter insertion, increasing the success rate, reducing the time taken and reducing the chance of complications
Students get the opportunity to practice their skills on a simulator at our facilities at the University of Melbourne Ultrasound Simulation Centre between 8 am - 4 pm Monday to Thursday.

Learning Outcomes

- Use ultrasound to identify the best vessel to cannulate
- Internal jugular, axillary, femoral and peripheral vein
- Radial, brachial and femoral artery
- Use ultrasound to successfully guide a wire and cannula into the vessel
- Use ultrasound to correct cannula misfeed
