About the Master of Information Technology

La Trobe's Master of Information Technology allows you to ride the IT wave and set yourself up for a successful tech career.

This degree builds your technical expertise and gives you a strong, industry-standard IT skill set. It's also flexible – you'll have the opportunity to specialise in one of several booming areas, including software engineering, cloud analytics, digital media, networking, artificial intelligence, digital health or cybersecurity.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent).

Selection criteria

  • Advanced Standing may be available for subjects completed equivalent to Australian Honours year level or the completion of La Trobe Graduate Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science. Students applying for exemption must provide details of the curriculum from the course handbooks together with a copy of their academic transcript.

Note: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

English language requirement

6.5 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0.

Fees and scholarships

Estimated course fees for international students

Estimated fees per year (2023):A$38 200 per 120 credit points.
Note: 120 credit points represents full-time study for one year.

Destination Australia – an Australian Government initiative

The Destination Australia scheme supports new international students to study in regional Australia and offers students a high-quality learning experience. For eligible applicants, these scholarships are worth up to A$15 000 per annum for up to four years.
