Trainee Pharmacist Foundation Programme

This course helps trainee pharmacists make the most of the foundation training year and prepare for the registration assessment. We fully understand the pressures of this year and this course will help you develop your full potential by focusing on key elements included within learning outcomes and the registration assessment framework.

We will support your professional development through face-to-face sessions and distance learning on topics across a range of clinical areas including pharmacy law, numeracy and emergency first aid. We will also prepare you for your registration assessment with the General Pharmaceutical Council, including regular mock assessments throughout the course.

The contact time for this course is ten sessions over ten months, with distance learning activities using our Virtual Learning Environment. The course does not earn you credits, but it will help prepare you for assessment within your foundation training year.

This course is made up of ten study days, of which one of these days is a full, formal mock assessment in May. The taught elements of this course includes a mixture of directed study and supported supervised study. There'll be a range of pre-work for each study day which you can complete in your own time, as well as participating in each study day.

Study days are held on campus and cover a range of topics varying on a month-to-month basis. You'll take part in a mixed approach to teaching, including presentations, case workbooks, case discussions and formative assessments.
