Return to: Programs of Study Program DescriptionThe Educational Studies degree program is offered at the graduate level and provides a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree for candidates desiring to gain knowledge and experience working with students in grades P-12, but who do not want to obtain a professional teaching license. The program provides candidates insight on the processes of teaching and learning. Admission RequirementsUndergraduate Degree/Grade Point Average • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.7 OR • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a cumulative undergraduate GPA between and including 2.6-2.69, but with a 3.0 or better for the last 60 semester hours earned toward the undergraduate degree
OAE Scores • Passing score on esepective content area OAE
Content/Education Grades • Grade of “C” or better in all undergraduate required content and education courses
Dispositional Assessment • Receive ratings of 3 or higher on all components of the Candidate Disposition Inventory (CDI) from ED 2750.
Foundational Skills Competency Exams scores documenting competency in Reading, Writing and Math via the subtests on the ACT, SAT, and/or Praxis Core Academics for Educators exams. See program website for specific score requirements. Program Learning Outcomes1. Demonstrate familiarity with the major philosophical and sociological perspectives concerning schooling. 2. Understand P-12 learner differences and ways to positively engage with P-12 learners. 3. Explore a variety of pedagogical approaches and their purposes. 4.
