Program Description

The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences offers a graduate certificate in Teaching Earth & Environmental Sciences, which will enable qualified teachers to teach credit-bearing college courses in their high schools. The certificate requires 18 graduate credit hours within the discipline for completion.

• EES 6150 - Global Change for Teachers Credit Hour(s): 3
• EES 6230 - Introduction to the Ocean Credit Hour(s): 3
• EES 6470 - Astronomy K-12 Teachers Credit Hour(s): 2
• EES 6480 - Plate Tectonics for Educators Credit Hour(s): 3

Elective Courses: 6 Hours

Three courses chosen from among the following:

• EES 6010 - Topics in Earth and Environmental Science Credit Hour(s): .5 to 5
• EES 6170 - Field & Laboratory Studies of Coastal Processes Credit Hour(s): 2
• EES 6400 - Glacial Landforms Credit Hour(s): 2
