Program Description

The Performance Specialist Certificate is a one-year course of instruction designed for advanced, non-degree students wishing to pursue intense and concentrated musical study in instrumental, vocal, or piano performance at the pre-master’s or post-master’s level. Students will engage in a course of study including applied lessons, ensembles, and related courses, and prepare a graded capstone degree recital.

Admisssion Requirements

  • All students must pass an audition for the WSU School of Music faculty.
  • Students must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
  • Fall graduate admission requirements per WSU Policy 5020.1.
  • For international students: demonstrate English proficiency per Graduate School WSU Policy 5070.3.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Perform a graded, full length capstone recital at a highly proficient level
  • gain considerable experience in large and small ensemble performance skills
  • intensive individual applied study with artist faculty
