Return to: Programs of Study Program DescriptionThe Foreign Service Certificate is intended for students who are interested in careers in diplomacy, or in the foreign service of a national government, including the U.S. Department of State. Students learn about U.S. foreign relations, the conduct of diplomacy, and prepare specifically for the U.S. State Department Foreign Service Exam. Admission RequirementsAny degree-seeking WSU graduate student may apply to the program by meeting with the certificate advisor. If not a current degree-seeking student, applicants may apply as graduate, non-degree and meet with the certificate advisor to be admitted into the certificate program only. Program Learning OutcomesUnderstand the fundamentals of international relations, diplomacy and U.S. foreign policy. Be able to succeed in the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service Exam.
