Program Description:

The Graduate Certificate in Diversity and Social Inequality is designed to enable high school teachers to fulfill requirements to teach college level courses in the College Credit Plus program.

Program Learning Outcomes:

• Successfully impart introductory-level sociology material and concepts to college-bound high school students.
• Demonstrate teaching skills appropriate to the collegiate context.
• Utilize social science data to document patterns of social inequality across a wide variety of social identity categories.
• Demonstrate cross-cultural understanding and intercultural awareness.
• Recognize patterns of prejudice and discrimination and features of social environments that can exacerbate or improve social inequality.
• Appreciate the impact of diverse social identities on individual well-being and life chances.
• Apply the sociological imagination to the study of diversity and social inequality.
