Program Description

An undergraduate certificate in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies can be completed by non-degree  students who wish to gain a professional credential for working with women and on women’s/gender issues in various occupations. To be admitted, students must hold an undergraduate degree at either the bachelor or associate level in any area, with a 2.0 minimum GPA. A minimum grade of “C” is required for each course counted toward the certificate. Electives must be at least 3000-level and from two different disciplines; see approved course list for available options or confirm with the program director.

Admission Requirements

To declare the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies minor students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and they must have completed WGS 2000  (Wright State Core Area 5). A minimum grade of “C” is required for all courses counted toward the minor, including WGS 2000, and no more than two courses may be from the same discipline.

I. Program Requirements/Prerequisites: 9 Hours


II. Electives: 12 Hours


  • One approved WGS course in Gender and Sexuality
  • One approved WGS course in Fine Arts/Humanities
  • One approved WGS course in Social Sciences
  • One approved WGS course in Multicultural or International Perspectives

* All electives must be 3000 level or above and at least one of these must be at the 4000 level. At least two courses must be 4000-level and above. Students should refer to the approved WGS course list for available options within each category or confirm with the Program Director.
