This qualification is a hands-on studio based programme which enables the learner to explore, investigate and develop a range of core skills relating to Art & Design. The New Zealand Certificate aims to provide a strong grounding in a range of art and design media. It is designed for school leavers and/or adults who want to develop their current skills and consider a future pathway into upper level programmes.

CAD4.001

Art and Design Practice

In this course learners will complete mini projects that develop their awareness and understanding of art & design practice involving digital and non-digital tools, media and methods.

CAD4.002

Drawing

In this course learners will develop their drawing skills by learning techniques that strengthen the use of light & shade, line & tone, point & plane. Ideas, imagery, materials, presentation and problem solving are also taught.

CAD4.003

Art & Design in Context

In this course learners create a website to showcase their artistic skills, personal bio and portfolio. The course educates the learner on future pathways in order to develop their art and design practice.

CAD4.004

Painting

In this course learners develop a toolkit of paint materials and practical skills. Colour, media, ideas and methods inform the investigation and completion of mini projects.
