Programme Structure and Subjects / Topics

The 180-credit degree consists of Master of Management core courses plus Sustainability subject courses.

Part One includes:

• 30 credits of the Master of Management core
• 30 credits: 152704 Business and Sustainability
• 60 credits selected from the Sustainability subject courses.

The compulsory Sustainability course is:

• 152704 Business and Sustainability – examines relationships between business, the natural environment and social/environmental sustainability; global debates; sustainability theories; and implications for business policy and management.

Part One subject-course choices include:

• 152728 Business Ethics and Responsible Management – business ethics, social responsibility, stakeholder management and responsible management.
• 152730 Advanced Contemporary Issues in Sustainability – sustainability strategy, sustainable supply chains and operations, UN Sustainable Development Goals and ethical trade.
• 178719 Climate Change Economics and Policy – economics of climate change and evaluation of global mitigation options.

Part Two requires 60 credits selected from the available Part Two courses:

• 152810 Innovative Business Solutions – design thinking, transdisciplinary teams, managerial problems and live-action projects involving industry partners.
• 152811 Organisational Behaviour: Connecting Organisations, Management, and People – organisational behaviour, people, culture, structure, external environment and operational sustainability.
• 152894 Professional Practice – a professional action investigation in the student's subject area, undertaken individually or in groups, with written and/or oral assessment.

• International students may study on campus in New Zealand or online from outside New Zealand.
• Semester One/Auckland full-time study is listed as 12 months.
• Semester Two or distance study is listed as 18 months.
• Progression to Part Two requires a B- average across Part One.
• Applicants normally need a relevant bachelor's degree with at least a B- average in the highest-level courses, or a Postgraduate Diploma in Business with a B- average.
• At least 60 postgraduate credits with a C+ average may provide an exemption from the Schedule A core, subject to Massey's alternative-course requirements.
• The programme is primarily taught and is not intended as a PhD pathway.

International Student Visa Requirements

International students physically studying the Master of Management in New Zealand will generally need a Fee Paying Student Visa.

Immigration New Zealand currently requires applicants to have:

• An offer of place from an approved education provider.
• Evidence of sufficient funds to pay tuition fees, or an applicable scholarship.
• Evidence of sufficient living funds or an acceptable sponsor.
• Acceptable medical and travel insurance.
