Kaplan Business School’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programme is designed for international students who need to strengthen their English and academic study skills before progressing to higher-education study at KBS. The programme develops the language and study skills needed to work successfully in an English-speaking academic environment.

The programme is divided into two levels:

EAP 1 – Intermediate:

• 10 weeks
• Focuses on developing basic academic language and study skills.

EAP 2 – Higher Intermediate:

• 10 weeks
• Develops higher-level academic English skills for undergraduate and postgraduate study.

Important current requirements and conditions include:

• Students must satisfy the English requirements for their intended entry level.
• KBS can use its KTE test for placement into the appropriate EAP level.
• Successful completion of the required EAP level can satisfy the KBS English pathway requirement for eligible courses.
• For direct entry from KBS EAP into a Diploma or EAP 2 pathway, KBS lists successful completion of EAP 1 at 65%.
• For progression into Bachelor and higher-level courses, KBS lists successful completion of EAP 2 at 65%.
• KBS's Academic Success Policy states that satisfactory progress for ELICOS students means achieving at least 65% in summative EAP assessments.
• The maximum ELICOS course completion period is 40 weeks.

International Student Visa Requirements

The EAP programme is CRICOS registered under 105225K, and KBS's application procedure states that after accepting the offer and completing payment, students receive an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE), which can then be used to proceed with an Australian Student visa application.

For an Australian Student visa (subclass 500), the Department of Home Affairs requires students to be enrolled in a full-time CRICOS-registered course and provide the appropriate Confirmation of Enrolment.

Other visa requirements can include:

• Genuine Student requirement.
• Evidence of sufficient financial capacity where requested.
• Overseas Student Health Cover, unless exempt.
• Health and character requirements.
• English-language evidence where required.
