While learning how to meet the holistic needs of patients, you’ll be led by our experienced, nurturing team of tutors in a caring learning environment.

 

What you study

Understand the role of an aged care professional while developing essential skills and in-depth knowledge for the real-world. You’ll be ready to enhance the general wellbeing of people, whanau, and communities with a focus on the elderly population and cultural sensitivity. During your studies, you will learn:

• Palliative care
• Operating equipment
• Safety procedures
• Hauroa and other cultural aspects of health and wellbeing
• Human anatomy and physiology
• Professional and ethical behaviour

 

At the end of your studies you will undertake 100 hours of work placement at an aged care facility or similar working environment. Upon graduation you will be able to work with a minimum pay of $26.94 an hour according to the New Zealand Government’s pay parity agreement (starting from 1 July 2023).
