If your goal is to build basic learning and employability skills, then this foundation skills course will provide you with the learning and practice that will lead to further study opportunities and employability skills in entry level roles where you will work under general supervision. Learning will take place during tutor directed sessions and activities. Further tasks, and assessments, are completed on our Learning Management System, Canvas LMS. You will be supported by your tutor and the Learner Success Support Team to do your best in this foundation programme.

 

What you study

• Customer Service: Techniques for providing excellent service, handling complaints, and creating a positive shopping experience.
• Sales Strategies: Methods for effectively selling products, upselling, and cross-selling to increase revenue.
• Retail Operations: Understanding the day-to-day operations of a retail store, including inventory management, store layout, and visual merchandising.
• Financial Management: Basics of budgeting, managing expenses, and analysing sales data to make informed business decisions.
• Marketing and Merchandising: Strategies for promoting products, managing displays, and using marketing tools to attract and retain customers.
• Stock Control: Learn how to manage inbound stock as well as stock-taking and forecasting.

 

Career opportunities

• Graduates will also be able to pathway into employment and work under general supervision in entry-level roles in a variety of fields or they can pursue further education to broaden their skills and knowledge in Level 3 qualifications.
