What is the Course about?

Analytical scientists investigate the chemical nature of substances to identify and understand how they behave in different conditions. In the pharmaceutical industry, for example, analytical scientists are involved throughout the drug manufacturing process to ensure the quality and stability of drug products.

 

Course Structure

Lecture and laboratory practicals cover the principles and practice of modern analytical techniques that are used in sectors including the pharmaceutical industry, food and beverage industries, and environmental analysis.

The purpose of this course is to produce graduates with the analytical skills to ensure that products such as pharmaceuticals and foods are safe to consume, and that our environment and health are protected from harmful substances. This course is for you if you like science, analytical activities and problem solving, and you would enjoy a course with a high level of practical laboratory work.

• Analytical project which allow students to advance their analytical and project-management skills.
• Graduates are eligible to progress to Year 4 of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmaceutics and Drug Formulation (SE500).
• Exit award: Higher Certificate in Science - Applied Chemistry ( 6) after Year 2.
