Process & Engineering Management (Bachelor of Engineering, L8, 60 ECTS)

The aim of the BEng (Hons) in Process & Engineering Management programme is to prepare graduates to be process ready for their industry sector. Industry wants graduates to be knowledgeable about how processes work, how to collect data, interpret the data and derive inferences from the data. Graduates will be able to add value to the processes they are working on from the start.

The programme is an industrial engaged programme. It is structured as follows:
1. Two major modules in the form of Applied Process Control and Project Management:
2. Two minor modules in the form of Engineering Operations Management and Statistical Process Control
3. Dissertation module.

With regards to the Project Management module: each learner must actively meet with industry representatives, visit companies and develop a deliverable that is presented to the representative. To allow for this, the Project Management module follows an international standard, in that it is based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), a widely recognised methodology. This will ensure the structure of the deliverable is of industry standard. Also, when learners have completed the module, they will have earned teaching hours & demonstrated competence that can potentially be used for application to the professional accreditation of Project Management Professional (PMP). For the Applied Process Control module, each learner will actively work on an industrial related six sigma project with the goal of breakthrough improvement. This problem based learning (PBL) follows the DMAIC (define, measure, analyse, improve and control) six sigma methodology. The Applied Process Control module is recognised by the Quality America Inc. Tucson AZ. This will facilitate the graduates to sit the Green Belt online examination.
