For all modules and courses the applications portal will close 4 weeks before the start date. All applications must be submitted and funding confirmed before the portal closes. Any applications that have not been processed and or do not have funding confirmed from the sponsor organisation before the portal closure will not be accepted by the IHSC administrator staff

 

Thank you for your interest in the non-medical prescribing module.  Attendance dates are given for each cohort above - click on the link "Attendance Dates" (beside the cohort you are applying for) and please note full attendance is mandatory.  In addition, students need to complete 90 clinical hours of practice, of which a minimum of 30 hours are to be spent working directly with the Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP).

 

Overview

This is short professional module validated by the Nursing Midwifery Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, and Health Care Professions Council. It prepares qualified nurses, midwives, pharmacists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, therapeutic radiographers and advanced paramedics for independent prescribing, and diagnostic radiographers and dietitians for supplementary prescribing.

 

The module is delivered in one induction day plus 12 study days (with an additional two half-days for exams). Teaching days are 9am-4pm, requiring full attendance and all students are required to undertake an additional 10 blended learning days (not timetabled). The study days will be delivered partly on Teams and partly in-person. In addition, applicants may find it beneficial to complete a health assessment module prior to undertaking the non-medical prescribing programme, for example, advanced assessment skills for clinical practice.
