This module aims to provide students with an opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge, skills and competence in relation to a chosen area of professional practice. This module enables students to develop, improve and/or initiate changes to an area of clinical practice within their own speciality. It is undertaken through a work-based approach and is student managed with tutorial support and guidance from the module co-ordinator and practice facilitator. This module of learning has been designed to allow each student to define their learning relative to their own area of practice and expertise. Students and employers must be aware of the professional boundaries that help to shape and determine the journey undertaken by the student when developing new skills and competence for working practices.

Aims of the module:

  •  To develop new knowledge and skills and enhance competence based on a critical analysis of the evidence in line with professional and occupational boundaries
  •  To demonstrate and work within professional and regulatory standards when developing and/or extending skills
  •   To enable the student to gain a comprehensive knowledge of children and young person’s cardiac care
