This module will introduce the student to the care of children and young people undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) including condition regimes, supportive care and underpinning theory and pathophysiology. They will complete practice based competencies and explore an aspect of the nursing care of a patient undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and relevant literature.
The implications this treatment may have on the child or young person and their family and the application of the evidence base to practice will be critically analysed and strategies for management debated.
