For all modules and courses the applications portal will close 4 weeks before the start date. All applications must be submitted and funding confirmed before the portal closes. Any applications that have not been processed and or do not have funding confirmed from the sponsor organisation before the portal closure will not be accepted by the IHSC administrator staff

 

This Module has been developed for registered practitioners with experience in the adult, learning disability or mental health setting who work within paediatric setting and require the underpinning knowledge to care for and support paediatric patients and their families. It can also be used to help Nursing Associates achieve a BSc degree by contributing towards the credit total. 

 

The module will allow the students to develop their underpinning knowledge in key areas of paediatric anatomy and physiology, medical conditions seen in children and young people and the evidence-based treatments used in practice, also demonstrate an understanding of the theories used.

 

Aims of the module

• Allow the student to develop the knowledge and the appreciation of theories required to care for paediatric patients and support their families within all care settings.
• To critically analyse the impact illness has on the child or young person and the family and the impact family centred care has on this experience
• To To allow the student to practice the newly learned skills and knowledge within a simulation environment and reflect on this practice before applying to their clinical area
