For all modules and courses the applications portal will close 4 weeks before the start date. All applications must be submitted and funding confirmed before the portal closes. Extra Corporeal Life Support (ECLS) is used within many intensive care units in the UK. This module will provide the student the skills, knowledge and understanding to be able to care for this complex population. A variety of methods of teaching are utilised including lectures ,problem based learning, group work, and simulation. The teaching faculty are all specialised in paediatric critical care and ECLS and have international profiles within the speciality.
Practical skill acquisition and application of theoretical knowledge to the clinical scenario is a primary theme.
The module follows a multidisciplinary approach with focus on the psychological and physiological effects of extra corporeal support as well as the importance of family centred care within the critical care period and ECLS.
