In this module students explore core critical care topics in relation to the acutely ill cardiac patient. Content includes invasive and non-invasive ventilation, cardiac monitoring, rhythm management, pacing, and circulatory support. These are considered in the context of underlying pathophysiology, and the experience of patient and family. The course aims to develop safe, effective and evidence-based practice relevant to a range of settings including acute wards, coronary care units, high dependency areas, and cardiac catheter laboratories.
The module can be taken as an option in the BSc (Hons) Professional Nursing Practice (Cardiac Care).
