This module has a primary focus on community and out of hospital settings.
This module critically evaluates the practical skills and knowledge base of physical assessment on individual body systems.
It provides the healthcare practitioner with an advanced knowledge base, communication skills and clinical examination techniques to increase confidence and aid with patient care decisions and differential diagnosis for acute and chronic health problems.
Core topics include clinical reasoning and history taking, anatomy and physiology assessment and clinical presentation of respiratory, cardiovascular, abdominal, neurological, musculoskeletal and head and neck systems.
Aims:
This module aims to:
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the anatomy and physiology of body systems, with a focus on clinical presentation.
• Enable healthcare practitioners to plan, implement and evaluate physical assessments on different body systems.
• Provide students with an understanding of differential diagnosis and relevant management, including referral and collaborative practice.
