For all modules and courses the applications portal will close 4 weeks before the start date. All applications must be submitted and funding confirmed before the portal closes. Any applications that have not been processed and or do not have funding confirmed from the sponsor organisation before the portal closure will not be accepted by the IHSC administrator staff

 

This module will provide students with the knowledge skills and experience to support the use of conscious sedation within the dental setting. Students will develop and enhance their skills surrounding advanced sedation techniques, drugs used and practical skills including the management of complications. The student will enhance their knowledge and intellectual skills to be able to support patients with anxiety and phobias when receive Dental treatment. Students will be able to understand the assessment process for undertaking conscious sedation and be aware of contraindications. Students will be equipped with the skills to recognise and manage the clinical environment to promote a positive experience and support patients and clients.

 

Aims:

This module aims to: 

• Support the development of knowledge, skills, and competence to support advanced conscious sedation procedures, 

• Promote safe clinical competence and to recognise and manage equipment, drugs and patients/clients care by following safe practice and IACSD national guidelines for conscious sedation.
