Becoming a Reflective Pedagogue (BRP)

This introductory module focuses on the tutor's role as a student-centered planner and facilitator of Learning and Teaching (L&T) activities within Higher Education. It explores L&T across various settings, including large groups, smaller groups like seminars and tutorials, and other formats such as online and blended learning, utilising learning resources and technologies, and managing learning environments. The module importantly reflects on the experiences and attributes of our diverse learners, aiming to enhance their learning by systematically and knowledgeably developing the participants' own active, critically reflective, and scholarly practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyse and articulate reflections on own social pedagogy and drawing implications for teaching, learning and practice in an inclusive HE environment.
  • Analyse and debate research exploring the economic, social and cultural factors that pattern and frame students’ experiences of learning in higher education contexts.
  • Critically contextualise findings from research, scholarship and evidence-informed approaches to apply selected strategies to enhance their own specific discipline/professional context.
  • Integrate theory and practice to reflectively interrogate professional practice for inclusivity.
