International Student Visa Requirements

Because the PGCertCT is currently closed to new enrolments, an international applicant cannot presently obtain an offer for a new place in this programme. Consequently, there is currently no programme-specific visa pathway for a new applicant.

If UC reopens the qualification and an international student receives an Offer of Place, the normal New Zealand Fee Paying Student Visa requirements would apply.

Immigration New Zealand currently states that the Fee Paying Student Visa:

• costs from NZD $850;
• can allow a stay of up to four years;
• requires an offer of place from an approved education provider;
• requires evidence of sufficient tuition funding or an appropriate scholarship;
• requires evidence of sufficient living funds;
• requires acceptable health/travel insurance;
• requires applicants to meet health, character and genuine-intention requirements;
• generally allows eligible students to work up to 25 hours per week during study, with full-time work during scheduled holidays depending on visa conditions.
