Latest Updates/Special Requirements

• The most important current update is that the PGCertYCL is not currently open to new enrolments. UC's programme page explicitly displays “Enrolments currently closed.”
• UC's 2026 qualification regulations also state that the certificate is not open to new enrolments in 2026.
• The qualification was first offered in 2022, with the current regulations coming into force on 1 January 2026.
• The qualification has no majors or endorsements.
• Students cannot fail more than 30 points in the qualification under the published progression rule.
• Honours, Distinction and Merit are not awarded for this certificate.
• Completed courses can potentially be transferred into the Postgraduate Diploma in Youth and Community Leadership or Master of Education, subject to the required approval and destination-programme entry requirements.
• One or more courses may require vaccinations; UC advises students to check individual course pages for applicable requirements.
• Because the programme is currently closed, future reopening dates and any revised course structure are not publicly specified – please confirm with IPU.

International Student Visa Requirements

For an international student physically studying in New Zealand, the relevant visa would generally be the Fee Paying Student Visa, subject to Immigration New Zealand's assessment and the programme's future availability.

Current requirements include:

• an offer of place from an approved education provider;
• sufficient funds to pay tuition fees, or an applicable scholarship;
• sufficient funds for living expenses or an acceptable sponsor;
• acceptable medical and travel insurance;
• meeting health and character requirements;
• demonstrating genuine reasons for coming to New Zealand to study;
• demonstrating that the student can leave New Zealand at the end of the permitted stay.
