• The Postgraduate Diploma in Te Reo M?ori (PGDipTeReo) provides advanced study of te reo M?ori with an emphasis on linguistic competence, research-based knowledge and critical thinking about contemporary aspects of the language.
• Students undertake advanced-level M?ori language study and can select three additional postgraduate Te Reo M?ori courses.
• The qualification is suitable for students who already have substantial Te Reo M?ori knowledge and want to strengthen their language, analytical and academic capabilities.
• The programme can provide a pathway into the Master of Te Reo M?ori. Students completing the diploma with Merit or Distinction may transfer to the master's programme.
• With approval, completed courses from the diploma passed with a B Grade Point Average or higher may also be transferred towards relevant honours or master's study.

• TREO401 Te Ngao ki Hawaiki – 30 points.
• Three additional courses worth 90 points in total, selected from TREO402–440.

• Advanced Te Reo Maori study.
• Spoken and written Maori.
• Traditional M?ori expressions and language forms.
• Whakatauki and kiwaha.
• Maori philosophical and cultural concepts.

International Student Visa Requirements

For an international student travelling to New Zealand to undertake this qualification, the relevant visa will generally be the New Zealand Fee Paying Student Visa, subject to Immigration New Zealand's assessment.

Current Immigration New Zealand requirements include:

• Visa cost: from NZ$850.
• Maximum stay: up to 4 years.
• 80% of applications are processed within 8 weeks.
• An offer of place from an approved education provider is required.
• Students must have sufficient funds to pay tuition fees or an acceptable scholarship.
• Students must demonstrate sufficient living funds or have an acceptable sponsor.
