Latest Updates/Special Requirements
- The current qualification is called the Postgraduate Diploma in Geospatial Data Science. It was formerly the Postgraduate Diploma in Geospatial Science and Technology.
- The current regulations came into force on 1 January 2025.
- The qualification was first offered in 2018 under its former name.
- The formal qualification regulations require approval by the Executive Dean of Science or delegate.
- There are no majors, minors or endorsements.
- Students may be eligible to transfer the PGDipGDS into the Master of Geospatial Data Science subject to the relevant approval process.
- Students who do not complete the full diploma may potentially transfer eligible credits toward the Postgraduate Certificate in Geospatial Data Science, subject to UC rules.
- Because elective availability changes from year to year, students should check the current course schedule before finalising their study plan.
International Student Visa Requirements
For an international student studying the PGDipGDS in New Zealand, the main visa route is generally the Fee Paying Student Visa.
Current Immigration New Zealand requirements include:
- An offer of place from an approved New Zealand education provider.
- Evidence that you can pay tuition fees, or evidence of an applicable scholarship.
- Evidence of sufficient living funds or an acceptable sponsor.
- Acceptable medical and travel insurance.
