Civil and Construction Engineering

Civil and construction engineers design and construct society’s infrastructure. They have key roles in creating buildings, bridges, roads and highways, harbours, dams, irrigation and water supplies, municipal infrastructure and other large projects.

As our built environment becomes more complex, ambitious construction projects require teams of people with different skills, working together. Civil and construction engineers are central to this process.

In this course, you will develop scientific, mathematical and practical skills, and learn how to apply your skills in various areas of civil and construction engineering.

Those areas include: structural analysis and design, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, hydraulics, construction management and methods, water and environmental resources, and professional practice.

In your final year, you’ll integrate your design, construction and management skills in large civil engineering projects. You’ll also undertake a major civil engineering research project.
